Meet Mark
As a two-term trustee and vice president of the Hays CISD School Board, Mark Jones is responsible for leading one of Hays County’s largest employers and managing a budget in excess of $100 million.
When first elected in 2005, Mark pledged to bring strong leadership to a school district with overcrowded schools and burdensome growing pains. Under Mark’s leadership and fiscal discipline, the school district opened four new schools and has two more under construction—without raising taxes. Mark’s efforts helped to develop a long-term plan for growth and improve student performance.
Before his election to the school board, the Hays County Commissioners Court appointed Mark to the Board of Directors of the Plum Creek Conservation District, a regional water district spanning two counties. With his background in local water management, Mark continues to advocate for long-term solutions to Hays County’s water needs.
Mark’s background of service also includes serving as founding treasurer of Central Texas Life Care, a non-profit organization that offers compassionate care and help to women with crisis pregnancies.
Believing that the Buda/Kyle area needs strong leadership to meet the challenges of growth while protecting our community’s quality of life, Mark Jones is again answering the call to public service as a candidate for Hays County Commissioner.
In March 2010, Mark won an overwhelming victory in the Republican primary election, receiving more than 77 percent of the vote. His candidacy has been endorsed by more than 500 community members, including 13 current and former elected officials from the Buda/Kyle area.
Mark’s priorities include meeting Hays County’s long-term transportation and water needs, strengthening the local economy, bringing foresight and fiscal discipline to county government, and protecting the quality of life that makes the Buda/Kyle community a great place to live and raise a family.
Mark is married to Kerri, his wife of 27 years. They have three children: Clayton, Kayla, and McKenzie.
